How Many Panels Do I Need?

Working out how many panels you need for any given room is actually a really easy process – all you need is a measuring tape, a calculator and some basic information about how well insulated the property is.

Start out by measuring the length, width and height of your room in metres. Multiplying all these figures by each other will give you the volume in m³.

Then, the amount of heat you need will depend on how well insulated your home is. Poorly insulated homes will need 30W per m³, moderately insulated homes need 25W per m³, whilst well insulated homes only need 20W per m³.

Multiplying the recommended Watts per m³ by the volume of the room in question gives you the total wattage requirement, and from here, you can decide how many panels you need.

For example, you could use a 1200W panel and a 350W panel if the total wattage requirement for the room is 1500W. You can mix and match various panel sizes depending on the nature of your room too.
