How Does Infrared Heat Work?

Infrared waves operate on a completely different physical principle compared to traditional convection heaters.

Convection heaters work by filling up with hot water, and making the air around it hot. This creates a stream of air known as a convection current – which essentially circulates hot and cold air around a room.

Infrared has no impact on the air, and instead radiates heat directly to all the objects in a room – the walls, furniture, and even you!

This takes far less energy to do, as volume of air will always exceed the surface area of objects in any given room.

The object absorbs some of the energy from the waves, whilst the rest bounces straight off, repeating the process until all of the energy from the waves has been exhausted.
