Every NXT Gen IR Panel now comes with an integrated thermostat, meaning they are compliant with the Lot 20 legislation that came into effect in 2018. With the bundled remote control, you can now control every aspect of your heating straight out of the box.

You can make use of automatic temperature control, where your panel regulates whatever temperature you want by switching on and off, as well as a 7-day timer that allows you to set separate on/off times for weekdays and weekends.

Where the panel really shines though is the adaptive start and open window detection. Adaptive start means your panel will work out how early it needs to switch on to bring your room up to temperature at your chosen time, and open window detection switches your panel off when there is a sudden drop in temperature as a result of an open window, saving you energy in the process.

Calculating The Number Of Panels You Need

Trying to figure out how many panels you need might be daunting, but it is actually quite simple – all you need is a measuring tape, a calculator and some knowledge about how well insulated your home is.

Start out by measuring the length, width and height of your room in metres, and multiplying all these figures together, which will give you the volume in m³.

Then, you’ll need to figure out how much heat you need per m³, which will depend on how well insulated your home is.

Poorly insulated homes need 30W per m³, moderately insulated homes need 25W per m³, whilst well insulated homes only need around 20W per m³.

The final step is to multiply the recommended amount of power by the volume of the room, which gives you the total amount of power needed. So for example, if you total requirement is 1500W, then a single 1100W panel and a 350W panel would be sufficient.
